London, 9 July 2025: Dr Mahmood Alazani, Chair of the Tamadon Foundation, participated in a high-level political seminar held at the UK Parliament under the title “Understanding the Yemen Crisis: Challenges and Pathways to Peace.” The event was organised by Abtisam Mohamed, Member of Parliament for Sheffield Central (the first MP from Yemeni origin) and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and was attended by a number of parliamentarians, diplomats, academics, and international experts.
In his intervention, Dr Alazani highlighted the importance of reactivating Tamadon Foundation’s initiative, which was presented during the Yemeni–Yemeni consultations held in Riyadh in 2022. The initiative called for the adoption of a clear political charter aimed at addressing divisions at the highest levels of authority and strengthening the principles of national partnership, as a key step toward restoring the state and achieving sustainable peace. Dr Alazani stated:
“The path to genuine peace does not lie in top-down arrangements or externally imposed power-sharing deals, but rather in a transparent national dialogue that ends longstanding mistrust and addresses the wounds of the past through justice and a shared sense of responsibility.”
The seminar formed part of broader efforts to enhance parliamentary and international awareness of the dimensions of the Yemeni crisis, and to promote a just and sustainable political solution that safeguards Yemen’s unity and sovereignty, while responding to the aspirations of its people for peace, development, and equal citizenship.
