18 November 2025: Dr Hamdan Dammag, Executive Director of Tamadon, participated in the 5th High-Level Feminist Peace Convening, held in Amman from 15 to 18 November 2025, as part of the National Peace Movement – Yemen (NPM) delegation and the Male Alliance of Women Peace, an initiative affiliated with the Peace Track Initiative (PTI).
The convening brought together more than fifty feminist leaders from Yemen and across the Arab region, alongside policymakers, civil society actors, and allies committed to advancing feminist approaches to peacebuilding. Discussions focused on key challenges facing feminist peace efforts today, including the protection of civic space, the pursuit of economic justice, and the strengthening of knowledge and evidence as tools for sustainable social change.
Throughout the sessions, participants emphasised that peace cannot be achieved through political agreements alone, but requires inclusive leadership, accountability, and the meaningful participation of women at all levels of decision-making.

Dr Dammag’s participation was particularly significant given his role within the National Peace Movement, which remains the only Yemeni political entity to have achieved at least 42% women’s representation across both its leadership and general membership. This reflects a substantive and practical commitment to political inclusion, aligned with the principles promoted by the Male Alliance of Women Peace, rather than a symbolic approach.
The convening concluded with a shared determination to continue working toward a more just and inclusive future for Yemen. While challenges remain considerable, participants reaffirmed that sustainable peace must recognise women not as marginal participants, but as equal partners and leaders in shaping political outcomes.
